Almost 45 years ago, author Hugh Findlay took off on a road trip with his friend Greg. Sparse, quick notes cover the 9 day trip but the end result is something between poetry and documentary. Now published for the first time in Midnight Mind Number Nine, you can ride along as Hugh and Greg camp, hike and explore. They traveled in Greg’s brown 1976 Triumph TR6 sports car, affectionately named “Teddy”. The goal was to have one last spectacular trip, filled with freedom and adventure, before they each had to leave their academic lives and join the world of responsible, working adults. The result is a raw view of the American landscape in 1981.
