Hi, my name is Brett Van Emst and I am the editor behind Midnight Mind Magazine.
Midnight Mind actually started back in the year 2000 and we released six issues before shutting down in 2004.
I spent the next 20 years bumming around California in a VW bus with my future wife, then having two kids, then becoming partner in a winery and eventually finding myself in Napa Valley.
In 2022, I decided to bring Midnight Mind Magazine back.
Just this month, our first issue in 20 years – issue number seven – is back on shelves at independent bookstores and Barnes & Noble stores across the country
The issue is our best yet.
Artwork by Jonathan Kimbrell
An essay on the found photgraphy of J. David Lanza
New Fiction by Pete Fromm, James Reed and Bill Teitelbaum
A Conversation with Captain Liz Clark
A piece by Kevin Brown on Jimmy Carter
Poetry by Chloe Rodriguez, Ed Lefson and Katharyn Howd Machan
And more cultural jetsam that makes our magazine so engaging.
I think you’re going to love this issue!
