In 1979, Robert Crumb created what must be one of the most insightful and interesting takes on America. His 12 panel comic, which was first published in CoEvolution Quarterly and later went through several versions of a poster, follows a single intersection from it’s natural state until the 1979 version of the intersection, which looked something like the Grateful Dead’s Shakedown Street:
The entire thing is just amazing. But it’s what he did at the end that we are most interested in for this project. At the very bottom, Crumb asked the question, “WHAT NEXT?!!”.
And that’s what we want your help answering. Designers, illustrators, artists and doodlers, we want to see your current version of this intersection. Send us your designs. We aren’t exactly sure where we will put them. Certainly some will make it into Midnight Mind Number Eight. But we might explore a stand alone publication if we get enough thought-provoking entries.
