Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Shonda Buchanan/Nyesha Khalfani is a woman coming to her own at every moment of her life. A writer, poet, mother, her words shimmer with the black earth of her Midwest/I-94 roots, Mattawan and Kalamazoo.
In 2000, Shonda’s poetry was featured in two major anthologies. The first, Catch the Fire, featured Shonda’s poem, “Prayer”, and the second, Step Into a World, featured “Personal”.
Her work was featured in Midnight Mind Number One.
