Emily Menges learned to read, write and play soccer in the suburbs of Long Island alongside a few brothers and her parents. She attended Georgetown University and then got drafted to the Portland Thorns where she played from 2014 to 2023, racking up 133ish caps, a few literary friends, and a newspaper called Bel Esprit. In 2024, Menges transferred to Bay FC, where she continues her career as a pro soccer player, publisher, and “professional” photographer ever since she started a photo business one afternoon when she was bored. She has a black cat named Turtle who is an absolute menace, but has final cut privilege for the paper.
She was interviewed for Midnight Mind Number Eight.
