David J. Krajicek

David J. Krajicek is a journalist, author and former professor. “Sutphin Blvd.” is his firs published fiction. He is the author of Scooped! Media Miss Real Story on Crime While Chasing Sex, Sleaze, and Celebrities (Columbia University Press), an unblinking look at crime and journalism. Krajicek contributes the “Justice Story” column to the New York Daily News. He was a columnist with APBnews.com, a crime news web site. Krajicek holds degrees from the University of Nebraska and Columbia University. He was a journalist in Iowa and his native Nebraska before joining the New York Daily News. He then was a professor at Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism before returning to writing full time. Krajicek has written for dozens of publications, including The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Manchester (U.K.) Guardian and Mother Jones. He has spoken about crime-writing at the Newseum, Florida’s Poynter Institute, on C-Span, on BBC, NPR’s “On the Media” and the CBC’s “Sunday Morning Live.”

His citations include The John Peter Zenger Award of the New York State Bar Association for a magazine piece about penal policy. He also has been cited by the New York Press Club and the Associated Press. He is co-founder of Criminal Justice Journalists, a national association of crime journalists.

Krajicek lives and works in New York’s Catskill Mountains with his wife, Julie, a violinist.
