Deb Sokolow tries to work in a tiny rooftop room on top of the building where she lives in Chicago but spends more time keeping tabs on the McDonald’s parking lot next door. Sokolow’s drawings and books visualize scenarios in which architecture, design, psychology and social engineering overlap. Her works are in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and the Art Institute of Chicago. Sokolow is on faculty in the department of Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University.
